Rainy day at Carnoustie
15:32pm Tiger will be back this weekend
Magnificent approach into the 18th by Tiger Woods – who will make the cut. The three-time Champion Golfer needed to scramble, matching four bogeys with four birdies before the last. And just misses his birdie putt though. Another 71, for evens.
14:21pm Tiger sees red
Tiger Woods back in the red numbers with a birdie at 14. It could have been an eagle for Tiger after he finds the green in two but his 10-foot putt misses right and he taps in to move to -1. That’s only five behind our current leaders
14:12pm Eagle chance for Woods
Brilliant. Woods has largely stuck to his plan of laying up with irons off the tee and on the par-five 13th, he is way back from where Russell Knox and Hideki Matsuyama have put it. No matter. His iron bounces beautifully on the green and he now has a 20-foot putt for eagle.
14:05pm Woods clutch putt
A fist pump from Woods greets his latest par and he was made to work for it. A poor tee shot to the right leaves him in danger of bogey but from 12 feet he holes out. Elsewhere, Phil Mickelson is on a charge with two birdies bringing him back to level par.
13:51pm The longest putt you will ever see
Tiger gets his approach shot to the 12th all wrong but thankfully he has a double green to keep him on the short stuff. It does, however, leave him with a ridiculously long putt and he’s seen laughing as he tries to size it up. Two putts later and it’s a par. Good job.
13;26pm Putter delivers for Woods
A roar erupts on the 11th green as Tiger Woods swings in a birdie from 20 feet. He’s back to level par and if he can improve on that then he will be very happy after today.
12:58pm Woods back to +1
It’s a struggle out there for Tiger Woods and the three-time Champion Golfer of the Year drops back to +1 at the ninth after a poor approach shot. He looks frustrated.
12:23pm Woods saves par
Another scrambled par for Woods as a gorgeous chip leaves him just six feet away. He now heads for the eighth plotting a way to get back under par.
12:07pm Tiger’s getting angry
Another wayward iron off the tee puts Woods back in trouble at the seventh. He’s having to fight hard out there. The lie looks okay but it’s a tough approach to the green.
12:02pm Welcome birdie at the 4th
Back in business for Woods at the fourth. Watch him pick up his first birdie of the day.
11:37am Woods back on track
Tiger Woods is back where he started the day after another super putt. From 20 feet, he drops it in – back to level par.
11: 34am Birdie?
The three-time champion flights his second at the fifth to within 15 feet. It’s another chance.
11:24am Tiger gets one back
Tiger Woods’ back-to-back bogey streak is ended in perfect style at the fourth as he holes his putt for birdie. That moves him up to +1 and he can continue to rebuild his round from here.
